Compare · Keka

A Keka alternative that puts HR and payroll on the same system as sales and accounts

Keka is an HR and payroll platform. Workdome covers HR and Indian statutory payroll too, and runs them in the same product as your CRM, finance, projects, recruiting and learning: one tenant, one employee directory and one permission model. If the reason you are looking is the number of systems around your HR tool, this page is for you.

Fit

Who should switch, and who shouldn't

Changing payroll systems is a real project. Here is an honest view of when it pays off.

Workdome is likely a good fit if

  • Your HR tool sits beside a separate CRM and accounting package. In Workdome a candidate becomes an employee becomes a payslip, and the customer in Finance is the organisation in CRM, without re-keying.
  • You want one place for Indian statutory payroll and GST. PF, ESI, professional tax and salary TDS are in payroll; GST, vendor TDS and e-invoicing are in Finance.
  • Your team works in Microsoft Teams. Apply for and approve leave, check a balance, log a standup or raise a service request as a Teams command.
  • Access to personal data needs to be provable. Permissions are scoped per role and per record, and a PII access log records who opened which personal record.

Stay where you are if

  • You only need HR and payroll, and they work for you. Workdome's case rests on running more of the company in one system. If HR is the whole job, a move buys you little.
  • Your staff need a phone app to install. Workdome runs in the browser and inside Microsoft Teams; there is no separate mobile app.
  • You expect the software to file returns for you. Workdome prepares the PF ECR file, the ESIC contribution file and the Form 16 and 24Q data; you review, upload and file.
  • Your people sign in with Google accounts. Single sign-on is Microsoft only today.

Migration

How the move from Keka works

There is no direct Keka connector. The move runs on spreadsheet exports from your current system, each loaded through an import screen in Workdome that reports every row it could not take, and why.

1. Employees

Load the employee master from CSV or Excel, bank details included. Each row is checked on its own, so one bad row does not stop the rest.

2. Statutory details

Load PF and UAN numbers, ESI numbers and PAN from a spreadsheet. Any column Workdome has no place for is listed back to you rather than dropped silently.

3. Leave and holidays

Load leave balances, either one row per employee and leave type or a report with one column per leave type, then the holiday list. The holiday import can be re-run without creating duplicates.

4. Salary structures

Set up your salary components and structures in Workdome. This is the step done by hand, and the one worth checking line by line against last month's payslips.

5. Year-to-date payroll

Switching mid-year? Load the year-to-date earnings and the tax declarations from a spreadsheet. Workdome suggests which column is which, you confirm on a preview, and TDS for the rest of the year is worked out on the full year's earnings.

6. One payroll in parallel

Run one month's payroll in both systems and compare payslip by payslip before you switch the old one off. Assets can be loaded from a spreadsheet at any point.

See your own payroll in Workdome

A demo runs on a tenant of your own, so you can load a sample of your employees and look at a payslip before deciding anything.
